1 pound ground beef

¼ to ½ tsp salt, to taste

¼ to ½ tsp ground black pepper, to taste

Nonstick cooking spray

4 slices baby Swiss cheese

4 (½-inch-thick) heirloom tomato slices

4 (¼-inch-thick) Vidalia onion slices

4 whole wheat hamburger buns

1 cup packaged baby sweet lettuce blend

¼ cup avocado cilantro Greek yogurt dressing

  1. Prepare outdoor grill for direct grilling over medium-high heat. In large bowl, gently mix beef, salt, and pepper; do not overmix. Form beef mixture into 4 (½-inch-thick) patties; spray with cooking spray.
  2. Place patties on hot grill rack; cover and cook 10 minutes or until internal temperature of burgers reaches 160°, turning once. About 2 minutes before burgers are done, top burgers with cheese; transfer burgers to cutting board and loosely cover with aluminum foil.
  3. Spray both sides of your tomato and onion slices, as well as the inside of your hamburger buns, with nonstick cooking spray; place onions on hot grill rack, cover and cook 2 minutes. Place tomatoes and buns, cut side down, on hot grill rack and turn onions; cover and cook 3 minutes or until grill marks appear on vegetables and buns are lightly toasted.
  4. Serve burgers on buns topped with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and dressing.
