Concord Grape & Sweet Onion Jam

This homemade Sweet Onion Jam makes a delicious spread for toasted bread or our Vidalia Onion Patty. Serve as a special appetizer at your next party as a spread or dip perfect for any snack!

  • 1½ lbs grapes (Concord recommended)
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 lb bacon
  • 3 medium sweet onions
  • 2 Tbsp cornstarch
  • 1½ Tbsp water
  1. In saucepan, cook grapes and sugar over medium heat until grapes have released juices. Stir occasionally to keep from sticking.
  2. Cook bacon until done, but soft (not crispy!). Remove from pan and keep drippings.
  3. Slice onions and cook down in bacon drippings.
  4. Stir cooked bacon and onions in with cooked grapes and let reduce down by half (about 10 mins).
  5. In separate bowl, mix cornstarch with water until blended. Pour into bacon, onion, and grape mixture.
  6. Cook until thickened, and then remove from heat. Let cool before serving.
