Chef Shannen Tune’s Vidalia Onion Dip

This recipe was created by celebrity chef and Food Network Chopped champion, Chef Shannen Tune of

  • 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 2 RealSweet® Vidalia onions, diced
  • 2 large shallots, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 c. sour cream
  • 1 c. mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp. celery salt
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • Chives, finely chopped, for garnish
  • Potato chips, for serving
  1. In a large sauté pan, heat the butter over medium-high heat. Add the onions and sauté, stirring occasionally, for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown and caramelized.
  2. Add the shallots and sauté for 8 to 10 more minutes, until the onions and shallots are dark brown.
  3. Add the garlic and sauté for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from the heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Set aside to cool to room temperature.
  5. In a bowl, mix the sour cream, mayonnaise, celery salt, Worcestershire sauce, and 1 teaspoon each salt and pepper.
  6. Fold in the onion mixture. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or overnight.
  7. Garnish with chives and serve with potato chips.
