We believe in giving back to the communities we serve and we’re proud to support these organizations:
Founder of Produce for Kids
John Shuman created Produce for Kids in 2002 to bring the produce industry together to benefit children and educate families on the importance of a healthy diet with more fresh fruits and vegetables.
Grocery retailers and produce suppliers across the country participate in two annual campaigns in the produce department to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals and other children’s non-profit organizations. The Spring Campaign (Get Healthy, Give Hope) runs from May – June and the Fall Campaign (Eat Smart for a Great Start) runs from September – October each year.
The campaigns include POS materials with the Ideal Meals cards and display unit, in-store advertising, public relations activities, in-store demos and online marketing.
Participating produce sponsors donate a portion of proceeds from each sale during the campaigns. Produce for Kids has raised more than $3.5 million to date to benefit these children’s organizations. For more information, visit www.produceforkids.org.
Susan G. Komen
Shuman Produce is committed to the fight against breast cancer. That’s why we’ve pledged to donate $20,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation this year. During the month of October, bags of RealSweet onions are available in the signature pink ribbon colors that serve to remind everyone of the cause.
